Title:
Movie Integration Project on The Sound
of Music
Course:
103 Multimedia
Date
Created: March
10, 2003
Source:
Sound
editing principles, Internet Resources for Incorporating Video and
Sound in Web Pages as well as sources for images, videos, sounds
Media:
Adobe Photoshop Elements for cropping, resizing and optimizing images
for the web. SoundEdit 2000 to edit the sound used in the Flash
movie and Macromedia Flash for the movie.
Description:
This
project involved creating a multimedia product around our favorite
movie or show. The project incorporated sound editing and incorporating
a video. The target audience for the movie was to be determined
along with a storyboard, timeline and links to related sites. The
product was to be persuasive in nature.
Rationale:
I chose this project because it was the culminating activity in
a multimedia course where I learned many new skills. This was the
first time I had edited sound to place in a multimedia product.
This involved locating a number of sound files, editing each file,
blending the files together, adjusting the sound levels, and matching
the sound to the appropriate images in the movie.
The
project required online Internet research to find just the right
images, sounds and videos. This was a complicated process since
the files needed to be a certain file type in order to be edited
in the software I was using.
I
also learned how to implement the required multimedia components
into a multimedia product using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. These
skills are invaluable to me, and I will use them with my students
this year. The completion of the project was a real accomplishment
for me, and I learned a lot from the assignment.
Implications
for future:
I am already using the skills I learned with my students. We are
discussing the different sound and video file types and the advantages
and disadvantage of each type of file. I am also going to incorporate
sound and video into the products we are working on currently in
my classroom. The students enjoy adding multimedia to their assignments.
I
am also going to pursue purchasing sound editing software for my
classroom. My students need to experience editing sound and creating
their own sound. I am excited about the skills and knowledge I acquired
by doing this assignment and hope to continue learning about sound
and video files.

Great job on the tribute to The Sound of Music. The site
was very professional and the links all worked properly. The Flash
intro was a great introduction to the movie. All images in the introduction
sparked an interest in the movie. I have never seen this movie and
have never wanted to until I saw your site. I may have to rent it
now. God job.
