Artifact
#5
Descriptors: Animation,
Interactive Internet Photo Album, Web Site, Video, Multimedia
Title: Photo Album
Course: 103 Multimedia
Date Created: February 26,
2003
Source: Microsoft Front Page
Media: Web Page
Description:
*Created a "splash" page animated introduction
*Created an interactive multimedia photo album
*Created, edited, and imbedded a related video
*Presented all in form of web pages
*Summarized file formats, software, types of graphics used, and the
editing techniques to improve them
Rationale:
This multi-faceted
assignment was designed to incorporate several areas of technology
applications to produce a multimedia product including animation,
video production, web authoring, and multimedia presentation
skills. I chose my finished product as an artifact and best
work for
numerous reasons, One, I love my end result! I took one
of my favorite subjects, my restored 1919 Texas Registered Landmark
home, and developed the project around that. Second, the
assignment and finished product included practically everything
we've learned in TATC. Finally, the assignment covered an
incredible number of indicators, especially since I chose to edit my
video for a more complete finale to the project. I chose it as
one example of my best work because so much work went into it, the
reviews by my classmates' were enthusiastic, and it made the hall of
fame!
Implications for future:
I
plan to burn cds of my finished product to give to the home's
previous owners who have helped me in completing research on the
home's history, and I plan to keep one for myself as a
keepsake. My implications for the classroom include assigning
a similar project to my multimedia students for their last six
week's work.
Reviewer's Comments:
You did a fantastic job on your project! I
was so captivated by your powerpoint that I could hardly wait for
the next slide to show what the "after" was going to look
like. I felt almost like I was watching the before and after from
the show Trading Spaces. The introduction for your project was
wonderfully done, and the overall presentation was professional as
always. You should use your work as an example for teaching your
students. I know they will be as inspired as I was. Once again, you
did a fantastic job.

Artifact
#14
Descriptors: Storyboard,
Timeline, Sound, Video
Title: Movie Integration
Course: 103 Multimedia
Date Created: February 28, 2003
Source: On-line resources,
Microsoft Front Page 2000, Atomix, Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, Monkey
Audio Compression
Media: Web Page
Description: *Set up a storyboard
of the MM product and link it to the presentation
*Created a timeline or sketch you're planning and link it to the
presentation
*Integrated edited sound into presentation
*Integrated a video clip into presentation
*Linked to a site that is related to show
*Made content persuasive in nature
*Gave myself credit in the presentation
*Included credits to sites or graphics
Rationale: I chose to include
this as an artifact because it is my all-time favorite
project. I love the finished product and the idea that I came
up with to create it. In order to be persuasive to today's
discriminating multimedia viewer, it had to be catchy, colorful, and
convincing. I took the very tame Mary Poppins to compare to
the wild and wacky Fran Fine of "The Nanny," focusing on their theme songs and
appearances. I also love the colors that coordinate with the
typical clothing worn by Fran Fine, which I mimicked in the
colors I chose for the page presentation, along with the customized
headline text for the pages. I consider it my best work
because the entire project came together with the ideas flowing
freely and my use of technology working easily. We missed two days
of school for bad weather, so I was able to stay at home and spend
some leisurely time on it. I enjoyed it so much that I could
hardly wait to get back to school and show it off to my students!
Implications for future: I
already use components of this assignment in my classroom, but I
will certainly include the entire assignment for my multimedia class
next year. Students love to be able to choose their
topics. Then it's easier for them to be creative in their
finished product.
Reviewer's Comments:
Your mix and the entire webpage is great! The video loaded pretty
quickly and worked well. I love your title and the overall color and
style of the page--very appropriate for the topic and I could see
the color coordination from the pictures you had selected to use and
the page background, etc. Good use of the elements and principles of
design.
