Communicate Information
Communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.
Communication is what we, as humans, do. And, most of us do it
well. Yet, how much of the time do we consider the various audiences
that might receive the ideas and information that we are trying
to communicate. Today's technology has given us many opportunities
to communicate in new and exciting ways. Yet at the same time, technology
has also imposed a few limitations to be considered as well. For
example, a blind person can talk to another person, but looking
at a page on the Internet requires special consideration. A hearing
impaired person can't hear to talk with another person face-to-face,
yet the Internet opens up an entire new world of information and
communication between that person and the rest of the world. Learning
to master the many opportunities made possible by modern technology
is both interesting and exciting; and likely to remain one of our
most important skills.

Title: How to Digitally Capture Images
Course: 101 Digital Graphics
Date Created: October 15, 2002
Source: multiple Internet sources, personal digital pictures,
past experience
Media: PowerPoint, Sony DSC 250, Adobe Photoshop
Description: The assignment illustrated here was to "teach
us something we didn't already know" about Capturing Digital
Images. This PowerPoint presentation discusses many of the ways
an image can be captured into a digital device.
Rationale: We had the option of how we would like to present
our information to the rest of the discussion group. I chose to
use PowerPoint because it is relatively simple to create and can
be used very effectively to communicate information and ideas in
a variety of ways. Many different types of communication can be
illustrated in a PowerPoint presentation: text form, image form,
sound form, graph form. Therefore I felt this would be a good product
to use to illustrate Standard 4.
Implications for Future: Considering the importance of communication
in every facet of our lives, this subject takes on greater importance.
As technology advances, the ability to use technology in many different
forms of communication becomes both more interesting and more complex.
This Standard is addressed in every aspect of the TATC course. This
experience will help me be a better communicator to diverse audiences
in the years to come.
Reviewer's Comments: Wow. How professional looking. Even
I recognize your use of the elements of design in your layout. The
info, the images, the design.... this is certainly a presentation
that could be used as a teaching tool. Super.
