Title: Image File Formats Report
Course: This Image File Web Page was created in the Digital Graphics TATC 2002-2003 course.
Date Created: October 14, 2002
Source: The Internet was used to gather the research and all of the graphics. The text book "Look and Learn Photoshop" by Deke McClelland was used for information as well as Interactive guide 2-1 "The Foundations of Digital Imaging" form the TATC. The web page was created using Adobe GoLive.
Description: For this assignment we were to choose a topic to research and present our findings to the class. We could present our topic any way that we choose. I decided to research Image File Formats. The requirements for that topic were to include: four or more formats, description of each, platform, advantages, disadvantages, representative graphic examples, two or more links and to summarize our topic. I presented my findings through a web page that I created.
Rationale: I chose this artifact because of the extensive search strategies that I had to use to find information on my topic. After finding several web pages on the topic I then had to evaluate and analyze each of them for content. I also had to verify information that I had found from the Internet with a few co-workers and even one of my students. I did find that some of the information on one of the web pages was incorrect. After finding all of my resources I complied my results using Adobe GoLive to create my webpage. I also used Adobe Photoshop to edit my graphics.
Implications for future: By researching information for this project I really learned the differences in the file formats. This really helped me down the road with my other projects in TATC as well as in my other classes as SHS. I have even shared my findings with my other colleagues and increased their knowledge of the subject. I think that I am going to incorporate this style of learning in some of my classes. I really learned about the topic because I researched it so extensively and had to compare the information with other research that I previously had. I feel that my students would do the same. The more they research something and compare it the more they will learn about the specific topic.
Reviewers Comments: Very nice presentation of Image File Formats. I like the outline in a table format. You also have nice examples of good and bad images. I also like your sources especially the scan tips.
