Video Technology
The video technology teacher has the knowledge and skills needed to teach the Foundations, Information Acquisition, Work in Solving Problems, Communication strands of the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in video technology, in addition to the content described in Technology Applications Standards I-V.
Reflection:
I was very nervous about this module as I had very little video knowledge or experience. In the beginning 90% of the assignments did not make sense to me, so I researched and did much reading on this subject. The course readings and discussions were of great benefit to me as I began to get a grasp on this subject area. Using a storyboard to begin planning did not appeal to me, but as I developed the storyboard I realized its great benefit in producing a quality product. As I began to carry out the steps in the storyboard I began to see the importance of planning. The complexity of video demands knowledge of many software programs and hardware.
In the future, my goals are to continue to build knowledge of what I have learned and then develop a curriculum guide and a step-by-step guide to include activities that develop the video TEKS.

Description:
Groups were assigned by Marilyn Cadenhead, our instructor. Working as a team we met online and decided on the theme and mood of the piece, job description of each member. We continued to meet online as we each developed our portion of the piece. We worked on problems and helped each other troubleshoot software usage. Each member contributed to the storyboard portion of the project and helped with other parts of the project.
Rationale:
I selected the mood video for this artifact because I learned to create the piece using different software but I also learned to share responsibility in creating an online project. The success of the project depended on each member contributing and sharing in the project outcome. Group members not only had to communicate online but had to gather information for audio, individual video clips , create a portion of the storyboard and produce the final video and web page presentation.
I included this project because it problem solving and communication were key factors in the success of this project. Each member had to contribute to the project to insure a good product.
Implications for future:
I will implement cooperative learning into all of my TA classes to promote communication and problem solving. This project reflects "real world" job situations, students need to learn to work with others when producing and creating information pieces. The importance of good communication is essential in producing quality publications. The production itself taught me more in depth work in the video field which gives me the knowledge and skills I will need to teach this concept.
The need for projects that teach communication and problem solving are essential to prepare our students for real world situations.

Description:
Using a digital camera or captured stills from a camcorder, I illustrated 3 of the concepts or techniques addressed in the Interactive Guides or Readings for this module. I presented both a correct and incorrect example for each concept or technique chosen. I provide a brief explanation of the concept or technique.
Rationale:
I selected this project because it is presented as a web page showing foundation skills that will be needed to teach video technology. Students must be able to communicate their ability to solve problems and present the results in a form understood by the reader. Techniques to manipulate information is a key to understanding technology applications. I value this information and feel it is vital to a solid technology application curriculum.
Implications for future:
I believe the majority of students learn visually, therefore it is my plan to use this form of information to present to my students as well as have them to use this skill to present to others. Students must have a solid understanding of this kind of information to be successful.
