Instruction that Incorporates Technology

Know how to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate instruction for all students that incorporates the effective use of current technology for teaching and integrating the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) into the curriculum.

As a veteran teacher, I have had lots of experience creating lessons and supplementing existing textbooks and curriculum guides. Over my fourteen year career I have taught numerous business and technology classes. Many of these courses do not have adequate text books to cover all the state requirements, therefore I have learned to create! This year I taught Graphics and Computer Multimedia and Animation Technology. Using my list of TEKS, I formulate projects and assignments that I felt covered these requirement and provided my students with exciting challenges. This artifact is a project that I have given to my Graphics classes the last two years. They have produced great work and love this project.

Description: This artifact is a lesson plan that I use in my graphics classes. The project is one that I do late in the year to chart their development in design.

Rationale: I have included this artifact because I feel that it shows the level of competency that I have as a teacher of technology. The assignment is thorough, causes the students to be creative and to use higher order thinking skills. The products that I have seen come from this assignment have ranged from average to extremely artistic. They gain a new respect for the field of advertising after this assignment.

Implications for future: This lesson will be used in both my Graphics class and my Multimedia class next year. Also, our school hired a new teacher for high school art classes and she and I sat down to compare notes on the software that we needed. I showed her this assignment as she was very excited about working this in to her class also.

Reviewers Comments: "I would really like to incorporate this in my art classes next year. Do you think we could work together on a project?"
