I had the opportunity to observe the webmaster
at Comanche County Telephone Company, Ismelda Garza. When I asked
her if I could observe her, she told me that I would not see much
because she does a great deal of thinking and drawing before she
gets to the computer. She was in the process of redesigning the
Mid-Tex Cellular page. It was interesting to watch her because she
is one who has Crayolas (yes, Crayola Crayons) on her desk and begins
her ideas with thumbnail sketches. I asked her if she writes much
HTML code. She said that she only writes code for things such as
forms, something that will be utilized again and again.
She uses a collaboration of Macromedia Dreamweaver
and Fireworks. On occasion she has created her own images and graphics
using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. One of her last steps before
posting her pages is to check to make sure they will be compatible
for all environments. I was happy that I knew what she was talking
about.
It was very interesting to watch someone out
in the "real world" working much like I have been doing
over the past year. She also had moments of frustration just as
I have had. I have so much appreciation for what she does and what
