Communicate Information

Communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.

Reflection:

It is so important to consider one's audience when communicating information. I thought this project was an interesting way of doing just that. There have been a number of times through this entire program that considering the audience involved depicted the best type of format to use. In the future, I plan to utilize many of the various ways in which information can be delivered for diverse audiences. I hope to learn more about the different formats and how they can be used so that I can stress to my students to always take the audience into consideration and learn more about the the options when dealing with file formats.

Artifact #4

Descriptors: Graphic editing software, Clipart

Title: Welcome Aboard Activity

Course: 104 Desktop Publishing

Date Created: January 9, 2003

Source: Individual project

Media: Microsoft Image Composer, Microsoft Word, PrintShop clipart

Description: This activity required me to create a logo, which could have been one previously created or something new. The logo must represent self, and make a strong graphic statement. We were to be creative and save the image so that all would be able to view it. I chose an oval shape logo with my initials and various clipart to represent those things around me I feel are important. I considered the audience, therefore saved the image as a universal .jpg so that all would be able to view it.

Rationale: This artifact shows how information, such as a logo, can be  represented and delivered according to the specified audience. I knew the format must be one in which all would be able to view.  I chose to go with .jpg because of its fast download time and universal format. I also believe that it was a project that allowed us to be very creative in expressing ourselves to others. It was an interesting project, and one that helped me get to know the others in my class. It was a great project to start the course off with because it gave me an opportunity to review the Elements and Principles of Design that I had previously learned then apply those elements to a desktop publishing product. Not only does it communicate personal information to a particular audience in a varied format, but it ties together many of the concepts learned in the TA courses.

Implications for future: I thought this was a great way to start off the course as a way of communicating to others, as well as a nice way to introduce ourselves through graphics. I hope to continue using these desktop publishing skills, and incorporating various ways in which my students can deliver their information according to their audience.

Reviewers Comments: I like it..... I could see this as a logo.  I really like the oval.  It brings it all together.
