Digital Graphics/Animation
The digital graphics/animation
teacher has the knowledge and skills needed to teach the Foundations,
Information Acquisition, Work in Solving Problems, Communication
strands of the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge
and Skills (TEKS) in digital graphics/animation, in addition to
the content described in Technology Applications Standards I-V.
Reflection:
This is my first experience with digital graphics and animation.
I never knew that so much went into digital graphics. It is amazing
to really take a piece of work and break it down into different
categories like color, mood, placement, and repetition. Through
TATC I have learned more terms and general ideas. However, this
is only a small taste. I have much more to learn and experiment,
but now I have some tools to do so.

Title: Mood of Color

Date Created: August

- Cover of Air Force Academy Catalog
Media: Microsoft Word,
Paint Shop Pro
Description: I used
a cover of a catalog to show how the first impression made is so
important. It is said that you should not judge a book by its cover,
but often if the cover does not grab our attention we will not get
past the cover.
Rationale: Interpretation
of the use of color in a this cover allowed me to visually see the
use of thirds. Once I took a moment a thought about how I felt about
the picture, I was able to see how the all the color worked together
to capture a moment or a feeling. This assignment help me move past
the picture itself to the ideas it was communicating.
Implications for future:
I really enjoyed this assignment. I hope that I can use this type
of activity with my students. I believe that the use of color could
be of help to them when they are building a resume or creating a
presentation. The process of getting past the picture also is a
higher level skill that would help them in many different subject
matters.
Reviewers Comments:
I like the use of color in this cover, but even more the use of
pattern from the art principles. The repeated flags and saluting
cadets gives it an interesting look.

Title: Cool Shades
Course: Multimedia 203
Date Created: May 13,
2003
Source: Created myself
Media: Adobe LiveMotion
Description: Create
an animation for a class web site that would gain the attention
of the intended audience.
Rationale: I selected
this animation as one of my artifacts because I fee that it is important
to appeal to an audience. This class web site is to communicate
information to students, parents, and the community. I believe that
web sites must be visibly attractive. That was my goal for this
animation.
Implications for future:
I hope to experiment more with animation. I used Adobe's LiveMotion,
but I would like to compare it to other animation software. I am
a little disappointed in the amount of time that it takes for my
site to load. This maybe due to the size of my animation.
For my students: I think they
would really enjoy using animation software. I also think they would
like my cool shades.
Reviewers Comments:
I think it is fun, too - just wish we had more time for playing!
I like the shades and your animation - that should get students'
attention.
