Communicate Information

Communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences.

For the last three years I have officially provided the service of campus webmaster. The task is quite large with a high school of 3000 students and parents, however, the real task is not in the creation of the extensive website, but in the development of a communication tool that will serve a diverse public. I continue to learn and apply new techniques for the website and to look forward each year to bringing a new look and feel to the campus homepage. It is in a constant state of change and upgrading. From time to time the organizations section has to be marked "under construction" because of changes in campus staff and personnel. I have learned a great deal during TATC which will help me do a better job of being the webmaster as well as teaching my students to work with a diverse group and to gather information that is time sensitive and full of communication issues. This site is currently being redesigned to reflect many personnel changes we are having during the summer.

Description: This website is designed to compliment the theme of the District Website and to promote the Fossil Ridge High School Black and Gold Panthers. The opening page is intentionally free of alot of graphics to help direct the attention of the viewer to the information listed in the links and any special events promoted in the graphic frame. The site gives the viewer an easy way to communicate with adminstration, counseling and through interactive multimedia, the various clubs and organizations on campus can provide their website infomation to be linked to the campus homepage.

Rationale: I have chosen to use this artifact because it is an ongoing and dynamic illustration of the necessity of communicating with a diverse audience in a variety of ways. This vast website is the communication link of our school with the public. It contains the information about events, student works, counseling information and the ways to reach the vital admistration of our school. The field of works shown in this website demonstrate not only my ability to communicate with the public as a webmaster, but also my ability to teach the students the correct ways to communicate and give them a live forum to show their work. Each year the design of this website is updated and changed.

Implications for future: This will continue to be a vital part of the way that Fossil Ridge High School links itself to the community and world at large. The necessary elements of staying current with developments in technology and new applications could not have a better platform for demonstration than the website that promotes the school, its' poplulation and statistics, it's organization and clubs. It is ever changing.

Reviewers Comments: Your web site is terrific! Very informatiive and very eye pleasing. On the Organizations page the picture did not open on my machine, and on the events page I couldn't tell whether the underlined words were links. If they are they would not open on my machine. You have put a lot of work into this site and should be very proud of it. There is so much work that goes into a High School web site and to keep it current is an even greater job. Excellent work!
