Desktop Publishing for the Technology Applications instructor can be doubly important. Teaching the concepts and elements requires the instructor to demonstrate from the printed lesson examples in addition to the classroom techniques. You must model what you teach in all of your handouts and examples. Every lesson needs headlines, contrast, typography, etc. As a community of learners and experienced classroom warriors, there is a treasure trove to be discovered during this course.

Rationale: I am including this artifact to show the integration of techonlogy into my classroom, and my ability to organize, deliver and evaluate the instructional material for this particular lesson. This lesson taught me the importance of organizing the information and producing usable templates for my students. Through the Unit Plan assignment I learned to put all of the information in ".pdf" files to deliver the information to multiple audiences. This is a great way to get information to students when they are not at school or lack the particular program in which it was created. Before TATC I had not used Adobe Acrobat for anything except the retrieval of information. I now know the flexiblity of this type of file extension.
Setting up electronic forms of lesson plans is a great way to set templates and save multiple copies. This was a great way to deliver information to my students. Implementing the unit plan in my classroom will be a really great way to model the task and have teacher directed lessons with the emphasis on student products.
Implications for future: I will use this lesson to help organize my lessons. The implementation of this unit will depend on good lesson plans. Now that I have this knowledge I can apply it to my classroom and lessons. I can design and use templates to model and demonstrate certain concepts to my students. Creating multiple units plans with the existing templates will be a great way to save time and implement technology into the curriculum. Desktop Publishing will be a Technology Applications course that I will be teaching next year and this will be very beneficial. I am very apprehensive about teaching this course, but with the knowledge that I have learned through TATC I believe I will be successful thus my students will be successful.
