Description: During this first week of class, we should become acquainted with our fellow classmates here in our online world. Though I suspect several of you know each other from previous classes and districts, please write a short (1 - 2 paragraph) biography in the Intros and Bios area.
Be sure to tell us:
*Where you are from.
*About your teaching background.
*Your level of experience with technology and online learning.
*In addition, a symbol that you feel best represents you and why you think so. If you have an image of your symbol, attach it to the discussion so we can all clearly see.
Rationale: This is a great activity to get to know one another. So much of the time students in small schools, like mine, take for granted that they know their classmates. If your students are from a larger school where they do not know each other, this would be a very good introduction project. To implement this into the smaller schools, I would also include hobbies that my classmates may not be aware. This assignment allowed me to get to know my TATC classmates. Doing this gave the name on the other end of the computer a personality and family. Working through an online atmosphere has been a different experience for me, and I know it would be different for my students as well.
Implications for future: Introduction to course and students in your school. As I stated above a smaller school may not get to use this for as strong as a resource, however the students could still learn through the communication of peers. Communicating information is the form of electronic email or hard copy is a great way for students to practice their writing skills.
Reviewers Comments: "Great analogy! True for me too sometimes."
