Standard I

Informed Decision Making

Use technology-related terms, concepts, data input strategies, and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications.

Reflection: Standard I is the foundation of the TA courses and implemented throughout TATC. This standard hits on many of the assignments due to the definition of the standard. Using technology-related terms, concepts, data input and strategies, and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications is the basic principle of this standard. I believe that many modules during my TATC experience covered this standard.

Description: Choose one of the following topics and research that topic. Using your own experience, readings, and/or research is a foundation for this report, offer your findings to the class.

Teach us something we do not know about your topic. Be creative in your presentations. Examples may include a web site, a presentation, a video clip, or a written summary.

Choose only one of the following topics:

*Image File Formats

*How to Capture Images(Various Methods)

*File Sizes and How to Reduce Them While Maintaining File Integrity

Rationale: I am inlcuding this artifact into my portfolio because it demonstrates the diversity of different file formats. I did not have extensive use with the different types of file formats so I had to really research and find the difference in the extensions. I did not know that there were so many different file format extensions out there and when applying them to images that affected the quality of the outcome. In the past, I just took the default selection and went with it, whatever the outcome of the image. Now I have learned that I can enhance the image by choosing the correct file format. This was an excellent way to find and reasearch all of the different types of file formats that are available. With the discussion portion of this lesson, I was able to pull from my classmates examples to form an extensive file and lesson on file formats.

Implications for future: I will use this lesson to demonstrate the different quality of images to my Desktop Publishing class. This lesson will demonstate to my students the different types of file extensions on digital graphics. Seeing the images saved in different formats will really enhance their learning.

Reviewers Comments: Good comparison on the images and what an adorable image. I was disappointed in my comparisons. I couldn't tell any difference and I really saved them in the particular format.
