Instruction that Incorporates Technology
Know how to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate instruction for all students that incorporates the effective use of current technology for teaching and integrating the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) into the curriculum.
I hope that everything I teach in the TA's will have a purpose. I have found that there is little out there in the way of textbooks for the technology courses. My background is 3rd, 5th and 6th grade. We had textbooks for everything. BCIS even has a textbook, but I have learned the projects that you think up and plan on your own seem to have more meaning for the kids. They really take off when they are given some control over their assignments. The files I have made from TATC will help alot with the planning, now I just have to organize those files so I can deliver them in a timely manner to my students.

Artifact #11
Descriptors: Digital Graphics, Web Authoring
Title: Digital Graphics/Animation Lesson Plan--Sara's Senior Year
Course: 101 Digital Graphics and Animation
Date Created: November 5, 2002
Source: Modules 2 & 3, Module 4 Discussion 2
Media: HTML Web Page, Adobe Acrobat, Flash, Scanner, Digital Camera, PhotoShop
Description:
We worked on this over the course of several weeks. We had to create a web site to display the entire unit lesson plan that we had created. It had to have a Home Page with a sample of the final digital graphics and/or animation. It had to have Vocabulary, Lecture Notes/Handouts and Step by Step Instructions. We also had to have a Credits Page with links to sites that we found helpful in the development of this lesson plan unit. All pages had to be linked to one another and the vocabulary and lecture notes had to be provided in a downloadable, universally accessible format.
Rationale: I had a hard time chosing an artifact for this standard. By now I felt I should probably include something from Web Authoring and not another Digital Graphic/Animation project! But digital graphics won out again because I felt it had enough of web authoring in it because of how the project was to be posted--as a web site and I really liked this project. The planning, organizing and delivering was a long process and well thought out. I liked that the students have choices in the lesson because when they make it their own it seems to come out as a better finished product.
Implications for future: I think my students will find making collages to be a fun and productive lesson. They will be able to build on this through the semester and the year. Adding animation will be another stepping stone. Collages are a fun memory and easy to take with them when they leave their alma mater.
Reviewer's Comments: Good option--K.I.S.S.--everything worked and the lesson was easy to understand. I think students would enjoy this and still be learning many different techniques.
