Title: Our Pleasure in Life is....VACATION!!
Course: 103-1 Multimedia
Date Created: February 25, 2003
Source: Years of pictures from our family vacations.
Media: Adobe LiveMotion, Adobe GoLive, Microsoft Power Point, Adobe Photoshop, and a scanner.
Description: The assignment was to build a photo album to be used on a web site. On opening the web site, visitors found an animated splash page to introduce the photo album site. Photo album requirements included an introductory splash page as well as the photo album. The album needed appropriate timing and could be built as a video or slide show. The photo album was linked through a web page. Each photo graphic used needed a description and preferably a common theme.
Rationale: This assignment was intended to have us think about what we have in our lives. A group of pictures of our life was to be the theme. Building a splash page helped us expand our animation know-how. More practice on building good visual and working web sites was a must. Learning to link a presentation to our site was a must in this project. I chose this artifact because I loved the results. I love to watch it every so often to keep me going when I need a break because we treat our vacations as a wonderful family break!
Implications for future: I was excited about this assignment. Building the splash page was lots of fun. Digging out and looking through our pictures was great. I enjoy the memories. The hard part was deciding which group of pictures to use for the project. I finally decided on vacation shots. As a family, these are our favorites. I was really glad that I was made to learn how to put these kind of presentations on a web site. I have always wanted to know how to put a Power Point in a web site. I find this useful in building the school web site and in my web mastering class.
Reviewer's Comments: I loved the animation -- the font you used expressed fun! The pictures were really good!

Title: How did we decorate before all the great ideas came out on the one and only show!
Course: 103A Multimedia
Date Created: March 11, 2003
Source: The "Trading Spaces" web site and the many hours of watching the show
Media: Used Video Wave, Photoshop, and Go Live software packages
Description: We were to promote a show and convince others to watch the show. We had to build a web site for the promotion. In the web site, we needed to incorporate sound, a videoclip, a timeline, and a storyboard. Your audience had to be targeted. When one finished surfing the site, they should want to watch the show.
Rationale: I chose this artifact because it is a good representation of what a multimedia product consists of. What I gained from this assignment was the knowledge that the prefix of the word multimedia really means "many". A multimedia project has so many different medias put together to work together.
Implications for future: I need to improve on my video skills. I also learned more about extensions (i.e. .avi, jpg, mpeg, doc, etc) every project I work on or assign to my students. I will strive to make my students not only multimedia but multi-technological!
Reviewer's Comments: Great show to work with! I enjoyed your product, expecially your timeline and storyboard. (Made me wish I had done something more creative on mine!) I couldn't get your mpeg to work, but I was able to view your video clip.
