Informed Decision Making

Use technology-related terms, concepts, data input strategies, and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications.

Reflection: As the year progressed and we learned more about the software we were using, the technology terms became second hand. The concepts of creative usage of technology became more evident as the year of studying progressed. However, the ethical practices will always be something I need to study and stay abreast on. Copyrights and proper usage are issues of debate in the technology world. These are issues to constantly stay current with and to teach students to respect.

Descriptors: Impact Reports

Title: Digital Thyme

Course: 100 Foundations 1

Date Created: August 13, 2002

Source: The research for this assignment was all done on the Internet.

Media: The web site was built with Front Page.

Description: This assignment was done in a group of 4. My group consisted of Kathleen Markwardt, Carol Luttmer, Beverly Sweeney, and myself. I became the lucky one who got to build the web site. The others did research on how technology in the digital graphic areas has impacted society. Kathleen and Beverly wrote articles on some of their research. Beverly also interviewed someone who uses digital graphics in their work. In our research, we found several sites that explain how digital graphics has changed our society. Another part of our research was to learn more about the history of digital graphics. On the index page, you will find the history data that we found interesting and important to understand digital graphic history. Included in the web site, you will find several links to sites on the Internet where my group found their information for their articles and even for future reading about digital graphics.

Rationale: Since this was my first web site to build for publishing, I learned alot. I was scared that I would fail the group due to my lack of web building knowledge. Since this was done in the first class, I had to rely on what little I did know about web site building. Since then, I can look at this web site I built and really locate my initial strengths and weaknesses in building sites. Now that I have learned so much more about web building, I consider this site as my initial beginning to what the TATC courses would teach me to improve on web building. I included this artifact because it has some articles and research to support the digital graphic world and what the future holds for digital graphics in the business world. It also serves as a reminder of my "TATC birth".

Implications for future: I will look back at this artifact and show my web students my first attempt at web building. In fact, I have a working list of web sites for my students to view to critique for strengths and weaknesses. We look at these at the beginning of the year. This artifact site needs to be included on this list. It will remind me of how I can always improve on my web building!

Reviewer's Comments: The history gives a great overview of just how far digital graphics have come...What would we do today without it! It is a fascinating world, that really allows one to have their imaginations become reality.
