I was born on August 25, 1954 at All Saints Episcopal Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. I have one brother, Roy, who lives in Niwot, Colorado, and works for Bayer. Both of my parents, Bendette and Roy Ince, still live in Fort Worth. I graduated from Green B. Trimble Technical High School in Fort Worth in May 1972 with a special diploma in Data Processing.
I was married August 4, 1974 to Peter Lohmer. He works for the
United States Postal Service in Waco, Texas.
We have 3 children, 5 dogs (4 chihuahuas, 1 black lab) and 1 ferret. Our oldest
son, Benjamin, is working on his masters at Texas A&M in Ag Development.
Matthew, our middle child, is a junior at Texas Christian University, and
is planning to become a pilot for the US Air Force. Amy, our daughter and
youngest child, is attending Navarro College with plans to transfer to a 4-year
university and major in Psychology.
I graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in December 1984 with a BBA and later entered TMATE (Tarleton Model for Alternative Teacher Education) program in 1989 through Tarleton State University. Currently I am certified in Business Composite, Computer Science, Information Processing Technology, and Elementary and have taught at Meridian High School in Meridian, Texas, since 1989.
I attended Green B. Trimble Technical High School to take advantage of their data processing program. During my years at Tech, we wrote computer programs in RPG, keypunched and verified those programs, and ran them on an IBM 360/Model 20 computer. I also majored in stenography. I loved every aspect of the programs and decided that I wanted to become a teacher and share my love for the business and computer fields.
After attending Texas Wesleyan for 2 years majoring in Business Education, I left school, married and moved to California. When we moved back, I obtained a job for a lawyer and worked there for two years using a dictaphone. I received a real break when I went to work at Bell Helicopter Textron in Hurst as a stenographer. I took an aptitude test for their computer department and they sent me to their training school for about 9 weeks. We learned COBOL, JCL, and flowcharting. I really enjoyed programming and worked at Bell for about 6 years. During those years, I worked full-time, went to college at night, and had three children. I still yearned to be a teacher and when my family moved to Lake Whitney, I was fortunate enough to be admitted to the TMATE program and realize my dream of teaching at Meridian High School.
Reasons I want to Teach TA Subjects
I love for students to be challenged and enjoy learning. I am always eager
to learn more about technology and share my learning and learn from my students.
I have taught Desktop Publishing for approximately 9 years and I look forward
to teaching more TA subjects.
